Design watch

Design watch lists the designs registered each week in India and tells you when one matches what you watch. The Patent Office publishes registered designs every Friday in Part IV (Designs) of the Patent Office Journal. Nishaan reads each new journal the evening it appears.

Design watch

Design watch. The classes and words the firm watches, and the matching designs from the last four journals.

What to watch

Choose what to watch and type it, then Add:

  • Locarno class: a whole class, such as 9 (packaging and containers), or one subclass, such as 09-01 (bottles, flasks, pots). Designs are classified under the Locarno classification, classes 1 to 32.
  • Owner: part of a name, such as a client's competitor. Every design with that name among its owners matches.
  • Word in the title: a whole word, such as bottle. "Bottle" matches "Glass bottle" but not "Bottled".

Choose the cross on a watched item to stop watching it.

Matches

Matches in the last four journals lists the designs that match, newest first, with the design number, title, class, owner, date of registration and what it matched. See pictures opens the journal at the design's page, with its drawings. New matches also come in the daily email, under New registered designs you watch.

A registered design can be cancelled on a petition to the Controller at any time after registration (Section 19 of the Designs Act, 2000), so a match is a lead to look at with your client rather than a deadline.

All registered designs

All registered designs searches every design Nishaan has read, by words in the title or owner, by design number, by class and by journal. The journal PDFs of the last twelve weeks are kept for See pictures; older designs stay listed, and their pictures are on the Patent Office's journal site.
